FAB WOMAN: Nikita Suresh

The brain behind India’s First Zumbathon Charity Event in 2012 and the founder of “The Tribe Fitness Club” in Bangalore, Nikita Suresh is a Fitness Instructor, Entrepreneur & Nutritionist. This 24 year old has an inspiring story and we’re so glad to share it. Read on about how she’s worked her way to build something she was extremely passionate about.

Nikita

The 24 year old Nikita Suresh, is on a mission to  break myths about fitness trends in the country. Nikita has been a Zumba Fitness instructor since 2010. The young entrepreneur holds a  Masters degree in Food Science and Nutrition. She’s also  interned with companies like Apollo hospital and Hindustan Unilever. But life changed when she met her current business partner Shwetambari through Zumba, as they did their certification together. Having met someone who’s as passionate as she is about fitness, she decided to join hands with her to take their passion to the next level. Together they hosted India’s First Zumbathon Charity Event in 2012 in Bangalore with more than 500 attendees. “Zumba not just uses Latin American dance forms, but has also incorporated bhangra that involves a lot of hip movement, therefore benefiting people who are usually overweight on the lower body. It tones the abs, hips, thighs and arms. An hour of Zumba can burn approximately 800 calories and it is fun filled with peppy music” – Says Nikita. The two young, energetic and dynamic instructors shook the dance floor for a noble cause. The proceeds of the event were given to charities, picked out by Nikita and Shwetambari. After the resounding success of the city’s first zumbathon, Nikita and Shwetambari knew that Bengaluru is a city with ample scope for such initiatives. Nikita also says “What’s amazing about our city is that people are open and keen to learn”. On seeing an opportunity, Nikita along with her partner conducted Zumba at a night club. They received an overwhelming response with over 250 attendees. Since then every single event organised by them has been sold out.

Realising that people in her city are now keen on making fitness a way of life, Nikita along with Shwetambari decided to put their passion to reality and launched their own Venture – one of India’s first group exercise fitness club. Spread over 8000+ square feet their fitness club is entirely group exercise focused. With International programs under one roof. Their fitness club currently conducts different programmes like Zumba, Crossfit, Les Mills, Yoga, Pilates and activities that take care of fitness for kids. Nikita is keen on helping people change their lifestyles and help them develop healthier choices for the future.

We’re still amazed by Nikita, who was probably the youngest fitness instructor at the age of 21. The FAB BAG Crew had a lovely time chit chatting with her. Here’s excerpts from our conversation:

FAB BAG: What motivates you?
Nikita: People my age who are passionate about doing something on their own

FAB BAG: One beauty tip that you can always fall back on?
Nikita: To me, it’s definitely a good Eye Liner

FAB BAG: One secret no one knows about you?
Nikita: Im not well shaped! But I always look  fit and toned and people say they want to look like me

FAB BAG: What’s the one message that you’d like to give to our members?
Nikita: Don’t stick to only the subject you studied, participate in sports and all possible extra curricular activities and do social service only then will you find what you are passionate about. Then you will automatically love what you do.

Parting Shot: With persistence and hard work she was able to achieve so much at a very young age. We admire how she turned a fun Zumba dance session into raising funds for charity. We think her thoughts are young, fresh and creative. In today’s age and time, with the amount of competition it’s important to have a unique business ideas that are constantly changing & adapting. To all those reading this story we have one message for you “Think outside the box, doing ordinary things in an extraordinary way can make a huge difference

The *FAB* Women initiative by FabBag.com celebrates the occasion of Women’s Day all through the month of March with an aim to inspire women across the country by sharing stories of ordinary women with extraordinary lives.
