FAB WOMAN: Ishween Anand
A woman who brings happiness to people and their homes through fragrance, a qualified C.A. and MBA from Stern School of Business, who quit her corporate job to follow her passion for fragrances – today we bring you Ishween Anand, Founder of Nyassa, whose story will leave you inspired!
Ishween started her career with Birla Sun Life AMC, Mumbai, from where she went on to work with GE Asset Management (Connecticut), before joining Ernst and Young, New York. It was only after she quit her job at E&Y and joined the finance department at Avon that she got a first-hand experience of how things work in a beauty products company. In a fortuitous twist of fate, just as Ishween was relocating back home to join Avon’s India operations, her business head quit resulting in the company deciding to shut office leaving her without a job. Returning to US was an option, but Ishween already had her heart set on something else. It was her love for fragrances that made her take up a course in making natural soaps. Once she mastered the art, she decided to start selling luxurious bath and body products over the weekends at the Atria Mall in Mumbai in April 2007. Very soon, Ishween started getting orders from The Bombay Store and Reliance Wellness. Blink! Within a month, ‘Nyassa’ products were being sold across 12 Reliance Wellness outlets, because they were truly a class apart from anything available in the market at the time. The rest as they say, is history.
Ishween’s vision is to create a beautiful products that are mild on the skin and leave a wonderful lingering fragrance. Nyassa has its origin in a Sanskrit word that means healing through touch by chanting mantras. Nyassa is also a dream, Ishween’s dream, born out of her passion for making natural bath and body products. Today, Nyassa is a prominent name in the Indian market, one that many women find synonymous with beauty. Ishween now envisions promoting Nyassa in the global arena.

FAB BAG: Founder of a beauty brand – give us one beauty tip that you always fall back on?
Ishween: When you have no skin care products to reach out to – grab a couple of ice-cubes and dab it on your face – It gives an instant glow! And if you need to invest in one makeup product, a perfect red lipstick is enough to brighten any face!
FAB BAG: One secret no one knows about you?
Ishween: I’ve attempted directing the play “Night of Jan 16th-Ayn Rand” with absolutely no theatrical skills. No questions on the outcome of that play will be entertained 😉
FAB BAG: One over hyped advice that you’d never give anyone?
Ishween: “Time is the best healer” – your mind is your best healer and it has nothing to do with time!
FAB BAG: What’s the one message that you’d like to give to our members?
