FAB WOMAN: Renu Sukheja
Chief operating officer of Fashion and Media Consulting, Anthem Consulting Pvt. Ltd., A former model, socialite and business woman who holds a Limca World Record for 15 Hours Marathon on the Elliptical Trainer, Today we bring you the story of one of the most leading names in the world of fashion, media and showbiz in South India, say hello to Renu Sukheja.
Born and brought up in the beautiful city of Kolkata, Renu was always interested in the glamour world, although she believes in the virtue of simplicity and lives a very simple life, the vibrant and very changing and always evolving fashion industry always caught her attention. With a career spanning more than two decades in the fashion industry, she knows it all. Today she is one of the leading names in South India when it comes to fashion, media and showbiz. Ask her anything about fashion and she’ll surprise you with her witty answers. She has organised numerous grooming workshops for training girls for national and international beauty pageants selections, held across India and in Hyderabad. She has worked along with her husband, Raj Sukheja and renowned Indian Management Consultant Neeraj Gaba of I AM She – Miss Universe India fame in organizing various such grooming workshops for both men and women in various Indian cities. Hyderabad was the first city for this Pan India grooming wave. The event was managed by Anthem Entertainment, a division of Anthem Consulting Pvt. Ltd. Renu’s daughter Reha Sukheja is a successful Indian model and the first runner up at I AM She – Miss Universe India 2010. Reha is also the first model from Hyderabad to make it into the Lakme Fashion Week. She has also been a consultant for managing and setting up the Beauty Pageant scene in the Telugu movie Life Is Beautiful (2012 film) by acclaimed Indian film director Sekhar Kammula. Nothing makes her more happy than transforming the lives of young girls by grooming & mentoring them to explore & realise their full potential. Before taking up grooming as a full time profession, Renu explored the interests within her and gave a shot at designing clothes, modelling, choreographing fashion shows and doing makeovers, this not only enhanced her skills but also changed her into a more vibrant, dynamic and versatile individual.
A fitness freak, who’s regular at the gym and loves working on the elliptical cross trainer everyday, In the year 2010, at the age of 50, Renu Sukheja successfully attempted to set a world record for the Elliptical Marathon. Renu Sukheja is now a World Record Holder in the Limca Book of Records for working out continuously on the elliptical cross trainer (cardiovascular fitness equipment) for 15 hours at Helios Fitness Center, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. Some of the other honours and awards to her name include Ms. Fitness 2008 by Helios Fitness, she was also a part of the Audition Selection Committee for Kalamandir Ms. Hyderabad 2012 & Selection Committee for HIFW or Hyderabad International Fashion Week.
Renu is a bundle of energy and when we spoke to her she was at her candid best. Here’s snippets of our chat with Renu
FAB BAG: What keeps you motivated?
Renu: Passion motivates me, helping young woman realize their potential motivates me.
FAB BAG: One beauty tip you’d like to give our members?
Renu: Simplicity, accentuate it.
FAB BAG: If you could start up something new, what would it be
Renu: I really want to write a book on the story of my life, maybe I would work towards it
FAB BAG: One movie you can’t get enough of?
Renu: Pretty Woman hands down.

Parting Shot: Renu exercises a compelling charm which inspires devotion in others. At the age of 50, she challenged herself to create a world record and pushed hard to achieve it. Her free spirit and simplicity has taken her a long way. Renu has a message for all of you reading this, “Looking good is important and one can only look good if it comes from within. Therefore find your passion and live it and you will find that natural glow.“
