As a working mother of two rowdy little boys, I look for beauty quick-fixes all the time. So here are two of my favourite beauty tips from fruity larders…
Bananas help in anti-ageing the skin, moisturise and lighten skin and its spots. And mushy bananas are great for the skin and hair too. So what do you do? Just blitz a banana in your mixer and pour in some milk to add lactic acid benefit – then just rub this gloop all over your skin. Wait for 10-15 minutes, never mind the mud monster look and then shower off. If you want a hair treatment, then instead of the milk – blitz the banana with olive or almond oil. Pour and massage all over scalp and hair – put on a shower cap for 15 minutes – shampoo and condition for glossy bouncy hair.
Mangoes, yummy as they are, are also bursting with anti-oxidants – the skin-friendly acids in mango slough off dead skin cells and give your skin a youthful makeover. How to use – you could do it two ways: one is when you dice and serve up a mango, there are yummy bits still clinging to seed – just use this fibrous seed to gently massage your face and neck for 10-15 minutes and then wash off for glowing skin. Else, take a mango, even an overripe would do, and roughly mash it with your fingers. You can also choose to puree it with a mixer. Then add some sugar or coffee grounds in it and use this mixture to thoroughly scrub your body – wash off for softened and renewed skin.
