FAB BAG PICKS: Plump Plums
Thought plums were just good for eating? Think again!
Sunday evening has turned into night, and when I open my larder, I am humming ‘Little Jack Horner’. Why? Well, my eyes alight on beautifully plumps plums and my mouth waters. While I dig my teeth into a tangy one, a sadly overripe one catches my attention. So do I throw it in the bin? My frugal “Nigella’ avatar refuses to and so I let my skin soak in the plum benefits instead!
Mash a plum (overripe works) with a little honey – apply this goop all over your face, neck and décolleté. Let your skin soak in the mixture for 10-15 minutes and wash off with cool water. Follow up with serum for skin that really glows! Plums are full of AHAs (alphahydroxy acids) that slough off dead skin cells giving you a fresher, youthful look.
Unrelated to beauty but very Sunday, are desserts. To make a very quick Sunday indulgence; simply slice (or chop) a couple of plums and put them in a cup. Now take your favourite cake or cookie (leftover, soggy or even dry bits work fine and layer these on top. If the cake or cookie is dry, add 1-2tsp rum and sprinkle a little powdered sugar on top. Finally add on whipped cream and that’s it – dig in!
