Unconventional Beauty Masks
There are a number of mystery ingredients available in your kitchen that promise miraculous beauty masks. Take a look at five such unusual kitchen beauty masks…
If you yearn for thick black brows, onions might be the solution for you. Onions contain chemical called sulphur which helps in speedy growth of eye brow hair. Just grind one onion and take out its juice. Apply this juice with a cotton ball over your eyebrows.
Camphor and Cucumber
Medicinal use of camphor has been established since ages. But the cosmetic use of camphor is lesser known. It is very useful in treating oily and acne prone skin. A pinch of camphor powder when mixed with two spoons of cucumber juice helps in soothing any red patches and when this mixture is mixed with fuller’s earth (multani mitti), it makes a wonderful face mask for an oily skin. Apply this mask on clean face and let it dry. Wash with cool water to find a refreshed face. A paste made out of a pinch of camphor and few tulsi leaves and applied topically helps in treating acne and pimples.
A great substitute for expensive, store-brought lose face powder. A few gentle dabs, applied like any other face powder will assure a matte look. A tightening pack can be prepared by mixing egg white and a spoon of cornstarch. But watch out! Don’t strain your face after you apply the pack lest you wish wrinkles!
Very few products carry good news for sensitive skin. Sour cream is one such product that does wonders to any type of skin, especially sensitive skin. The lactic acid found in sour cream is a type of alpha hydroxyl acid. This acid is one of the ingredients found in branded skin creams known to smoothen and nourish the skin. It also improves the skin tone and aids in repairing collagen tissue thus increasing the elasticity of the skin. For a dry skin, a face pack can be prepared by mixing two tablespoons of sour cream with half a ripened banana and a tablespoon of honey. Leave this pack for about ten minutes and wash with warm water to get a super soft and supple skin. Sour cream also acts as a great exfoliating agent. Just mix two tablespoons of sour cream with 2 tablespoons of freshly chopped parsley and a half of grated cucumber. Apply as a mask and wash with cool water after ten to fifteen minutes.
Baking soda is a great home remedy for removing dead skin and killing bacteria that causes skin eruptions and acnes. Mix half a spoon of baking soda with water and apply a thin paste over the skin. Leave the mask for a minute and then wash by rubbing in circular motion. The alkaline nature of the baking soda wards off the growth of bad bacteria. It removes dead skin and opens up clogged pores.
