Up Your Brow Game
Forget to keep your brows neat and shaped and you might end up looking droopy when you’re not, angry, when in fact, you may be feeling fabulous. While we all wish we were blessed with perfect brows, most of us are not that lucky. So if you don’t have time to make those unfortunately frequent trips to the salon, follow these simple tips to ensure the browmance stays put in your life.
If you want the Megan Fox look but have straight lines over your eyes, don’t go plucking like a madwoman. You can create the illusion by brushing the brows up and angling them out with a spoolie (mascara) brush and then apply a matte highlighter under the outer half of your brow. Make sure you never over-tweeze the tail ends of your brows because without them you cannot create an arch. Many women also tend to create an arch in their brows that is too close to the center of their eye, which causes a “furrowed brow” look that has the front of the brows thick and the middle and ends to be too thin. To fix this, first, let your brows grow back and then while tweezing, grab a pencil and hold it parallel to the outer edge of your iris. The point where the pencil hits your brow is where your arch should be.
Over plucked eyebrows are a big fashion faux pas and can cause some serious panic. For damage control, find a brow pencil that matches your eyebrow hair. Use the pencil from inner part of the brows and gently draw lines outwards. Now, take a brow brush and go over your eyebrow quite a few times to blend the pencil colour applied. Just remember not to use a cream-based eye shadow or eyebrow pencil because it can give an artificial look. You can also apply a clear brow gel to make the eyebrow hair stay in place and look full and glossy.
You started out just plucking the strays, but ended up looking like you have tapeworms over your eyes. Now you need to step away from the tweezers. Stop obsessing over those tiny hairs, in all probability they won’t bother you as much. You can also draw use a matte or powdery eyebrow pencil to draw short, feathery strokes throughout your brow and in the same direction as hair growth.
You brows seem to have a mind of their own and need to tame them into control. Use a tweezers to clean up the shape of your brows by removing hairs high above or below the arch. Then brush your brows up with a spoolie (you can use an old mascara wand) and carefully trim only the tips with small, straight-bladed brow scissors. If you don’t want to work so hard on them, you can also smooth out your trimmed eyebrows using a brow brush and keep them polished by applying a small amount of hair gel or hairspray.
