Tips to avoid that wrong makeup look
Said Yves Saint Laurent, “The most beautiful makeup of a woman is passion. But cosmetics are easier to buy!” But remember, the secret to great make-up – less is more!
While blessed are those with God-given natural beauty, more than often make-up comes to the rescue of us lesser mortals. A splash of colour here and a puff of powder there helps accentuate our features. The golden rule of make-up has always been that it is supposed to make women look naturally perfect. Even men prefer women to look as natural as possible. Unfortunately, when it comes to applying make-up, it’s too easy to go too far. Even celebrities with expert help can get it wrong more than once. Don’t believe us? See for yourself our list of celebrities who may need to keep their make-up kits at an arm’s length.
Have you seen a photo of Christina Aguilera lately? There’s definitely such a thing as “much too much” even on a girl as pretty as Christina. It’s understandable that the genie in a bottle star loves her cosmetics, but she really needs to tone down the heavy bronzer, blush, lipstick, and eye makeup. The actress has previously admitted she finds it hard to stay with one style for too long because she gets bored. Being an artist, she feels the world of making videos, touring and theatrics is bound to affect the star’s personal make-up style. Here’s one lady who will never believe that bleached hair, orange complexion and bold lip colours can sometimes be a turn off!
Snooki is an example of girl who does too much. Too much hair, too much makeup, too much cleavage and definitely too much skin. The Jersey Shore famed starlet is rarely spotted without cakey makeup. News is, the reality star wore fake eyelashes even in the delivery room during the birth of her first child – like the baby would notice!
From chopping her hair off to rocking bold make-up, the Harry Potter star is no stranger to experimenting with her look. While she always looks poised and polished for the red carpet, the chic Brit admits that even she’s prone to making a make-up mishap from time to time. Emma admits that one of her “biggest beauty faux-pas” is sometimes wearing too much makeup. She loves makeup and its ability to transform, but truly believes that beauty is something that comes from within. It’s good to see young starlets like Emma being beauty sensible these days – now only if she would apply the stuff sensibly too!
Here are a set of raccoon eyes you just can’t miss. The sweet, innocent Jenny Humphey on Gossip Girls plays it quite dark in real life. Her signature heavy black eyeliner and dark lipstick just don’t work for her small round face. That’s why we have make-up rules ladies! Kindly take a lesson from Momsen who looks like she’s been let loose with a felt pen.
MAC may have created a lipstick line for her, but biggest cosmetic critics also admit Nicki Minaj needs to amp down the war paint. Heavy foundation, brightly colored lipstick and eye shadow, and long fake eyelashes and that pink hair is always there when Nicki makes a public appearance. We get her vibe for all things bright and vibrant, but no one’s going to mind if she decides to tone down OTT look every time she steps out.
