Bold Makeup Look
Strawberries, cherries and an angel’s kiss in this season… my winter wine is really made from all these things! And some really dark lipsticks!
The strawberries, cherries and winter wine are still very much around, mainly on seen staining luscious lips on the runway. Succulent wines and bold berries are the rage in lip colour this season and are being seen on a few famous pouts around the world.
A sheer, berry-tinted lip color is flattering on any complexion and is the perfect way to dabble in the season’s trendy bordeaux lip without the drama. Make sure lips are properly exfoliated and moisturized before using a sheer stain. Anna Andre’s Deluxe Cream Lipstick in shade 40204 works well as does Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick Plum Berry and Rebel by MAC are great for those looking to go bold. If you want a slightly more pastel look, try Maybelline’s The Jewels Color Sensational Lipstick in Berry Brilliant.

Mulberry is the somewhat neutral middle sister between wine and burgundy. While, it is said to be more suited to those with a lighter skin tone, you can mix it up with other shades to adapt to your skin. For a little extra oomph, add some gloss to your lips and blend. Mulberry also looks great with sheer, shimmering eyeshadows. Try Chambor’s Truly Lasting lipstick in Truly Mulberry or Faces Go Chic in Mulberry Slush.

This shade works best for women with an olive complexion. If you like maroon and deeper shades of red, burgundy is made for you. We rather liked Revlon Velvet Touch Lipstick in Royal Burgundy and Faces Cosmetics Glam On Lipstick in French Burgundy

It’s trendy, it’s royal and it’s taking lip shades by storm. All you dusky-complexioned beauties can rejoice, purple looks stunning on your skin tone. It’s also said to make your teeth look whiter. Faces Satin Matte Lipstick in Imperial Purple caught our eye, as did MAC’s Creme De La Femme.

There is something deliciously decadent about having lips stained the colour of crushed grapes. Shades of wine go with pretty much any skin tone so you have less to worry over there. Dark Side by MAC is a definite favourite in this category with its red-purple colouring. For a more brownish tone, Dior’s Rouge Lipstick in Hypnotic is a great choice. The key with wine lips is to keep the rest of your makeup minimal and make your bold lip statement the centrepiece.
