What’s Better: Cleansing Pads or Wipes
Wiping off make-up with a pre-soaked pad or wipe is pretty convenient, but which is a better choice?
Don’t you just love the feel of clean skin? The freshness that envelopes you when you use your loyal make-up remover followed by that facewash and cold water is really something. But what do you when you need to look fresh on the move? Welcome to the world of cleansing towelettes (wipes or pads!), your best and easiest skin care option if you are too tipsy, tired or lazy to wash up, or need cleansing on the move. Cleansing towelettes are essentially moistened pieces of paper or cloth used to remove all traces of make-up, oil buildup and gunk and cleanse your face . The basic function of a facial towelette is to clean and refresh your face, but today, beauty stores are brimming with towelettes that moisturize, reduce blemishes and even fight ageing. Traditional removers seem like a boring option now don’t they?
Cleansing pads is the solution to your midday greasy-skin syndrome. They are made up of fiber sponges which have been previously soaked with active ingredients including water, alcohol, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide which help remove oil and prevent acne breakouts. If you have oily skin and are living in a tropical environment, then cleansing pads can be a lifesaver. Besides removing the excess oil build up, the fiber sponges of cleansing pads make for strong exfoliants that help remove dead skin for a smoother complexion. The concept of cleansing pads in India is fairly nascent so options are limited.
From primarily being ‘baby wipes’, cleansing wipes are fast becoming a beauty rage. Cleansing wipes remove the dirt and grime on your face but are gentle to the skin. You can opt for a dry wipe, which requires some water to get it to foam up, or you can go for a wet wipe which can be used anywhere because it is already moistened. The perks of facial wipes also lie in the fact that they contain the correct amount and type of ingredients needed for facial cleansing. Cleansing wipes are ideal for dry and sensitive skin as they can come soaked in gentle moisturizers and skin-nourishing vitamins including B5, C and E.
Which to choose?
Well, either or – depending on whether you like a more cotton-pad feel or a wet wipe feel. Also pads sometime come in plastic boxes which are hardier to carry around while wet wipes come in plastic towellete cases that tend to open up in purses! Choose one that takes off make-up and gives you an added skin functionality if you so prefer.
