Marigold: Good For Your Skin!
The days are made brighter with marigold. Strings of these flowers hang about every doorway getting everyone in a festive mood. But it’s not just your door that looks happier with marigold – your skin too can benefit from it. Packed with natural anti-oxidants called flavonoids – marigold has the power to heals wounds, cure inflammations and stubborn skin diseases. Powdered, freshly grown or dried marigold – each can be used as part of your homemade beauty regime to get a healthy mane and beautiful skin.
You can use marigold as your homemade spa for an invigorating experience. Fill your bathtub with lukewarm water. Now take a cup of dried marigold petals and about 2-3 teaspoons of warm olive oil, and add them in your bath water and let them marry for 2-3 minutes. Soak in and enjoy the experience.
Since marigold improves the skin tone, you can prepare your own homemade toner with the same. Mix marigold essential oil with witch hazel oil in a ration of 1:2. Once done, store the mixture in a clean jar and refrigerate. When you intend to use it, dip a cotton ball in the same and dab all over your face and neck.
If you have light brown tresses (coloured as they might be), marigold can be a great ingredient for refreshing your hair colour! Crush half a cup of fresh marigold blossoms and mix the same with about three to four cups of plain water. Let the mixture stand for at least 15 minutes till the water changes colour too a reddish-orange. Use this as a rinse after you shampoo-condition.
You can improve the skin tone of your entire body and remove blemishes if you use marigold body wrap regularly. In a large bowl mix 2-3 tablespoons each of honey and milk. Add fresh marigold petals to this and pulverize in a mixer till you get a paste. Smear liberally all over your body and leave it on for at least 20 minutes. A warm shower will reveal a glowing you!
